The Office of Consumer Support (OCS) promotes the integration of the components of recovery and resiliency in practice, expansion of peer support services, and opportunities for meaningful participation in the public mental health system for individuals receiving services and their family members.
Additionally, OCS is responsible for providing assistance to individuals receiving services and their families to resolve grievances related to access to services and service provision, providing education regarding the rights of individuals receiving services, and responding to general questions concerning services for individuals with serious mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
OCS can provide information about services offered by DMH and DMH certified community service providers. Information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling the DMH Helpline at 1-877-210-8513.
Through OCS, you or your family members can:
- Receive information about mental health, IDD, and substance abuse services available in your area.
- File a grievance, which will be responded to by the staff of OCS.

DMH values information, both strengths and opportunities for improvement, provided by individuals who receive or have received services. Obtaining information on where to go for services is often the first step in the journey of recovery.
