This Time-Limited position is with the MS Department of Mental Health’s Bureau of Crisis Services within the Division of Care Coordination. The incumbent will serve as Program Specialist for the Office of Consumer Supports and Pre-Affidavit Screenings. This individual will be responsible for the following duties:
• Assisting the public, as well as other state and private agencies, with navigating the public mental health system in Mississippi, to include services for mental health, alcohol and drug use, and intellectual and developmental disabilities • Documenting grievances and complaints filed in the office and submit those reports to the proper divisions within the agency • Ensure appropriate case documentation in the appropriate data storage program • Making appropriate treatment referrals to certified providers • Conduct Crisis Services certification reviews • Review policies, records, and compliance plans • Draft Written Reports of Findings • Provide program guidance and technical assistance to certified providers on DMH Operational Standards, documentation, and performance • Coordination of certification visit-related tasks in the Bureau of Crisis Services • Present findings from on-site certification reviews in group meetings, as needed • Review and process monthly data reports from all certified providers • Validate and track required program data and follow up on missing or inaccurate data from all certified providers • Verify allowable costs and proper use of grant funds • Track data trends across regions • Evaluating the effectiveness of assessments in reducing recidivism • Provide technical assistance to ensure provider compliance with applicable state and federal laws and making recommendations for improvement • Ensure compliance with all applicable private, state, and federal grant requirements and reporting • Prepare and release Requests for Proposals to DMH certified providers requesting competitive grant proposals • Process grant proposals once received from interested providers for service provision • Support DMH’s mission and represent Crisis Services in internal/external meetings as needed • Works under general supervision of a manager • Demonstrate reliability through punctual attendance, timely task completion, and prompt follow-up on all assigned tasks • Perform other duties as assigned

Program Specialist III (State Service)
This position is available in the MS Department of Mental Health’s (DMH) Bureau of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Reviewing programs and services certified by DMH through on-site reviews for compliance to DMH Operational Standards and other official regulations. • Responsible for being Team Lead occasionally on certification site reviews. • Writing reports containing findings during on-site reviews. • Presenting findings from on-site reviews in group meetings. • Reviewing DMH certified provider’s policies and procedures, service records, personnel records, and plans of compliance to ensure compliance to DMH Operational Standards and other official regulations. • Providing internal and/or external training/presentations, as needed including provider technical assistance coordination. • Processing requests from DMH certified providers to DMH programmatic area(s), as well as those seeking certification • Processing applications for new services and programs to ensure they meet DMH Operational Standards • Answering questions pertaining to provider certification and providing internal/external customer service in this area • Collaborating with other DMH staff as needed • Establishing rapport with employees from DMH certified providers as well as those seeking certification • Interacting with people receiving services who may have intellectual and developmental disabilities • Frequent data input of provider information which includes verification of service(s)/locations, amendments, and certifications • Frequent travel required throughout the state with overnight stays on occasion which will consume approximately 40 – 50% of the work month • Other duties as assigned

Program Specialist Supervisor (State Service)
This position is available in the MS Department of Mental Health’s Office of General Counsel. The incumbent will serve as the Director of the Risk Management Division. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Plan, coordinate and provides oversight and leadership to DMH Risk Management (RM) • Oversees Emergency Preparedness for the agency • Develops RM/EP policy implementation and feedback • Conducts overall review and research of investigatory work • Review report systems functions for programs/providers with reporting requirements to DMH • Function as RM/EP liaison with internal and external stakeholders • Collaborate with DMH Programmatic teams and the Certification Review Committee for compliance risk measures • Provide oversight and maintain data on serious incidents, grievances and complaints • Provide leadership to the Human Rights Advocacy Committee (HRAC) at our DMH programs • Provide supervision to Risk Management staff
